TrailMap

Description:
From the trail sign between the fort and the footbridge on the Historic Trail, begin this rolling, wooded, well-marked, out-and-back trail, which crosses ground that was once a major battlefield. Blue blazes provide direction as you cross intersecting paths and firebreaks. You will walk through tall grass, skirt an open field, and pass under a canopy of oak and pine trees where you may see a variety of wildlife such as birds, turtles, lizards, and snakes. When you reach the pond, you can return the way you came, or make a loop by returning on the Star Fort Pond Trail.

Restrooms, water and maps are available at the Visitors’ Center, which includes a museum and gift shop. Insect repellent is recommended during warm weather. Pets are allowed on a leash.
