Trail
Fishermen Access
(Ninety
Six National Historic Site)
Trail Map

Description:
Begin this mostly-easy-to-follow, shoreline path from either the
parking area, the Cherokee Path, or the Star Fort Pond Trail. If you
circle the pond on the grassy causeway, and pass the dock at the
parking area, you will see the sign for the Fishermen Access Trail
at the gate as you enter the woods where you may see a variety of
wildlife including birds, deer, turtles, frogs, and snakes.
Follow the narrow dirt path
around the far end of the pond where you will cross several short,
boardwalk footbridges. As you loop back to the other side, avoid
errant trails and stay close to the edge of the pond. At the open field,
you will walk through tall grass, turn right at the woods’ edge, and
walk away from the pond until you pick up the trail on your left. At
the end of the Fishermen Access Trail you can turn right and follow
the Star Fort Pond Trail back to the Visitor Center, or turn left
and watch for the Cherokee Path on your right.
Restrooms, water, and maps are available at the
Visitor Center, which includes a museum and gift shop.
