Six National Historic Site)
Trail Map
Description: From the Ninety Six Historic Trail,
near the Star Fort earthworks, you can pick up a trail guide and begin
this short, foot traffic only, spur trail that loops through the area
where Robert Goudey's trading post once thrived. Follow the
grass-covered historic Charleston Road and turn right
at the Gouedy Trail sign. You will cross a field, enter the
woods, and come to a bench at the James Gouedy gravesite. As you rest,
you may see wildlife including birds, lizards, and snakes. Continue on
the winding dirt trail back to the Charleston Road, turn left and
return to the Ninety-Six Historic Trail, or you can extend your hike
on the Cherokee Path Trail that crosses Charleston Road.
Restrooms, water and maps are available at the Visitor Center, which includes a museum and gift shop.
Insect repellent is recommended during warm weather. Pets are allowed
on a leash.
Length: 1.1 miles with loop at end.
Fees: None.
Directions: From the intersection of SC 34 and SC 248 in Ninety
Six, drive south on SC 248 for 2 miles. The park entrance is on the
left.
Hours: Gate is open 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Park outside the
gate for dawn to dusk access.
