(Florence County)

TrailMap

Description:
A short section of this trail gets its name from an old stagecoach trail that passed through this area from Washington, D.C. to Savannah, GA. From the trail kiosk, begin this foot-traffic only, nature loop through quiet, woodland where educational kiosks display information about the natural environment, and color-photograph plaques identify various plants and trees including oak, maple, blueberry, sparkleberry, and Witch Hazel. Near the end of the loop, you can connect to the Riverwalk Trail that winds along Lynches River or continue to your starting point. Watch for birds, snakes, squirrels, and a variety of other wildlife.

Restrooms are located behind the community building. Insect repellent is recommended in warm weather. Pets are permitted on a leash.

Length: 1.3 mile loop.

Fees: No fee.

Directions: From Florence, drive south on U.S. 52/301. At the fork with U.S. 301, stay on U.S. 52, cross Lynches River, and turn right onto West Old No. 4 Highway (S-21-147). Drive approximately 2 miles and turn right on County Park Road. Continue to the Lynches River County Park entrance and turn left into the parking area just past the community building. The trail head is located near the river.

Hours: 9 a.m. to sunset.

Camping: There are campsites within the park.
