Description: Magnolia Plantation is the
centuries-old home of one of the original families of South Carolina’s
colonial aristocracy, the Draytons. Two walking trails, the Wildlife Nature and
Nature Walk and Hike plus a series of unimproved trails offer an easy
walk or bike ride through the 60-acre plantation, a 125-acre waterfowl
refuge, and a 60-acre cypress and tupelo black water swamp. You can also
rent a canoe and paddle through the largest wildlife refuge area. This
area is home for a wide variety of land based and water birds. You may
also see a variety of animals such as alligators. Concealed benches and
an observation tower allow you to observe wildlife without being seen.
Bicycles must be walked through the
garden area.
Length: Wildlife Nature Trail 2.5
miles, Nature Walk and Bike Trail 5.4 miles, and Canoe Trail 1.5 miles.

Directions: From Charleston, drive
west on US 17, cross the Ashley River, and turn right onto SC 61. The
entrance is approximately 10.0 miles on the right.
Hours: Open every day of the year
from 8 am until dusk. Call about hours from November to February as they
may vary.
Camping: No camping.
