Description: Starting from Durham Creek Landing you will paddle
south to the confluence of Durham Creek and the Back River and turn
right onto the Back River. During your paddle on the Back River, you
will pass old rice fields, pass under a railroad trestle, and a wooden
bridge. Shortly after the trestle you will see a well kept landing area
on the left, which is Medway Plantation, where you may see the ruins of
the old plantation home. This is private property and cannot be used by
the public. In the summertime you will be treated to a number of
blooming water plants and you may also see an abundance of animals (such
as alligators) and birds including herons, eagles, and American egrets.
Shortly after you pass under the wooden bridge, the river narrows and
you will need to turn around.
