Description:
Enjoy enchanting paths through beautiful azalea and camellia gardens, quiet nature trails through backwoods and wetlands, or a self-guided flat bottom boat tour amid shadows of towering cypress trees. You will receive a visitor’s information map to guide you. Don’t forget to save time for a visit the aquarium, and the enclosed butterfly garden.

·        The Main Path is a circuit of easy walking, easy to follow loops through the gardens and around the black water swamp where you can observe a variety of wildlife and plants from benches, bridges, and platforms. Or you can venture deeper into nature on one of three other trails

·        The North Nature Trail begins at the boardwalk near the picnic area. You will follow this narrow foot­path over tangled roots, across wooden planks, through dense woods and swamp.

·        The South Nature Trail begins near the green bridge at the far end of the Main Path. You will cross footbridges and follow a narrow dike through woods and wetland that provide habitat for turtles, birds, and lush vegetation.

·        The Perimeter Trail connects near both ends of the Southern Nature Trail. Follow this narrow, less-traveled, adventurous trail through rhododendron, pine, and remote swamp, for a closer encounter with nature.

Remember to wear insect repellent, and respect alligators, snakes, and other wildlife. Restrooms, water, and picnic areas are located near the gift shop at the front entrance. Pets are permitted on leashes.

Length: 4.5 miles of walking paths and nature trails.

Fees: Adults $10, senior adults (65+) $9, children $5, children 5 and under free.

Directions: From Exit 199 near Charleston on I-26, drive north on US 17A toward Moncks Corner. Drive 6 miles and turn right onto Cypress Gardens Rd. Drive approximately 10 miles and turn into the entrance on the right.

Hours: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily (admission closes at 4 p.m.). Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas, and New Year’s Day.

Camping: No camping.
