(Edgefield, SC)

TrailMap

Description
: You can learn a bit of history, and contemplate the picturesque beauty of Slade Lake, on this park-like, .9-mile paved rail trail. From the trailhead at the far end of the parking lot, ten stone markers, commemorating South Carolina governors, are spaced along the route. You will cross several quiet streets, wind through neighborhood back yards, pass a ball field, and cross a large wooden bridge (that was formerly a railroad trestle), before reaching an overlook. From the overlook you can continue down a hill and walk along the edge of the lake, then onto a fishing dock. If you wish to beat the daytime heat, this trail is lighted for access after dark.

Pets are allowed on leashes. Skaters and bikers are asked to yield to pedestrians.
