Equestrian Nature Center, Inc. (FENCE)
Description: FENCE is
a non-profit organization that offers access to its land and services
for nature education and outdoor recreation. The property consists of
approximately 300 acres and is located on the South Carolina/North
Carolina border, just off I-26. Certain designated parts of the
property are open to trail riders. Other trails are reserved for
hikers and for outdoor nature study classes. FENCE includes a
well-known Equestrian Center for competitive events for
hunter/jumpers, for dressage, and for combined training, and also
annually hosts the Block House Steeplechase. FENCE also promotes
nature study through its wildlife programs which include seasonal
birdwalks, environmental education classes, herb workshops, and
programs for children and young adults.
Length: Approx.
3.0
miles of designated equestrian trails. Open meadows, ridges and fields
may also be crossed on horseback.
Fees: No fee for use
of trails on FENCE property. Riders, however, are invited to become
“Friends of FENCE” for an annual $30 individual, or $40 family,
tax-deductible contribution. Please note that riders are *not*
permitted on trails adjacent to FENCE, which are over private
property, without an annual membership fee paid to the Foothills
Equestrian Trails Association (FETA). For information about FETA

Directions: From Exit 1
on I-26 at Landrum, drive towards Landrum.
Go approximately 1 mile to Bomar Road on the right (look for a L’il
Cricket on the corner). Go one short block and turn right on Prince
Road. Follow Prince Road for approx. 1.5 miles to Hunting Country
Road. Turn left and proceed about one mile to FENCE. Trailer parking
is on the left, just past the main entrance on your right.

FENCE is open during daylight hours (9-5).
