Description:
From the trailhead at either gate, you will navigate hilly, rugged,
unmarked firebreak trails that loop through a quiet, natural preserve
protected by the Department of Natural Resources. You may see rare plants as well as
turtles, snakes and other wildlife as you follow sandy paths and
rutted roads past ponds, lowland areas, and high vistas. The trails
are reserved for foot traffic only. Hunting, camping, and recreational
fires are not
permitted, however, fishing is allowed.
Remember to bring your compass, bug repellant, and water.
No restrooms or facilities are available.
Length:
1.75 mile perimeter loop (longer if you follow other branches).

None.
Directions:
From Exit 18 on I-20 near Aiken, drive south on SC 19 for 2.2 miles
and turn right onto Mayfield Road (dirt). Henderson Heritage Preserve
is approximately .9 miles on the right. Pass the first gate, and the
pond, and park at the second gate. Begin the trail at either gate.

Dawn to dusk.

No camping.
