Description: From the parking area, this moderately difficult trail winds up Nanny’s Mountain. You will pass mine sites where during the Revolutionary War iron was mined for weapons of the war. After approximately 0.3 mile the trail will split. If you go straight you will climb to the summit where there is a education pavilion and a picnic area. If you go right, you will climb to another picnic area and a lookout. During your walk you will see a variety of birds and may see deer, gray fox, gray squirrel, and shrews.

Insect repellent is recommended during the warm months. Pets are allowed on a leash.

Length: 1.1 miles.

Fees: No fee.

Directions: From I77: From Exit 82 north of Rock Hill, drive west on Celanese Road (SC 161) to Newport. Turn right onto Hands Mill Road (SC 274) and drive to the junction of SC 274, SC 55, and SC 49. Turn left onto SC 49, drive 1.2 miles and turn left onto Liberty Hill Road West. Drive straight at the gravel road and enter the Nanny’s Mountain Area. Parking is on the left.

From York: Drive north on SC 49 for 10.5 mile and turn right onto Liberty Hill Road West. Drive straight at the gravel road and enter the Nanny’s Mountain Area. Parking is on the left.

Hours: 8 am to 6 pm daily.

Camping: No camping.
