Sparkleberry
(The
Bishop Gravatt Center, Aiken, SC)
Trail Map

Description:
Before you hike through the two endangered ecosystems on this mildly
challenging, hilly, loop trail, please register at the Bishop Gravatt
Center. To reach the trail head, follow the dirt road from the parking
area in front of the office. After you pass the pavilions on the left,
and the tip of the lake on the right, you will locate the trail head
sign. Begin to the left and you will start your hike uphill on a
rutted, pine-needle covered trail through the longleaf pine uplands.
You will walk through wooded areas intermingled with open vistas,
until you curve to the right and descend into a lowland area. You will
wander through tall grass along an Atlantic White Cedar Bog where you
will catch glimpses of the lake. When you loop back to the trail head,
follow the dirt road back to the parking area.
