Description:
From the far left of the buildings at the Visitors’ Center parking area, begin this easy-walking, out-and-back dirt road trail. As you wind beneath shady trees, you may see a variety of birds, snakes, turtles, and other wildlife. Once you reach the pond, you have an option of returning the way you came, or return on the combined Ninety Six Historic and the Cherokee Path Trails. Another option is to extend your hike by hiking around the pond on the Fisherman’s Access Trail.

Restrooms, water, and maps are available at the Visitors’ Center, which includes a museum and gift shop. Insect repellent is recommended during warm weather. Pets are allowed on a leash.

Length: 1.7 miles.

Fees: No fee.

Directions: To the park entrance: From the intersection of SC 34 and SC 248 in Ninety Six, drive south on SC 248 for 2 miles. The park entrance is on the left.

To the parking area at the pond: From the intersection of SC 34 and SC 246 in Ninety Six, drive south for 2 miles and bear right onto Greenwood County S­24­27. The parking area is approximately 1 mile on the right.

Hours: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Camping: No camping.
