(Carolina Sandhills National
Wildlife Refuge)
Trail Map

Description:
From the Lake Bee Recreation Area, this easy to walk trail is marked
by white keyhole shaped blazes. You will cross SC 145 where you can
turn either way to go around Lake 12. Once past the Lake 12 you can
continue to the end at Martin’s Lake. At
Martin’s Lake you will find a photo blind and a lookout tower that
offers a panoramic view of the area. The Carolina Sandhills National
Wildlife Refuge is primarily geared to provide habitats for migrating
water birds, so this is an especially good bird watching site in the winter.
It is also home to the
endangered red-cockaded woodpecker. Facilities are available at the
Lake Bee Recreation Area.
