Description:
From the trail sign near the picnic table, begin this rolling,
twisting, hiking/biking/equine, dirt trail through quiet, oak and pine
woodland. You will cross several footbridges, wind along a creek, and
cross the dirt road, before you enter a dense bamboo thicket where the
trail loops back to the dirt road. You can turn left onto the dirt
road and then right onto the paved road back to the picnic area, or
you can return the way you came. Watch for snakes, birds, deer,
squirrels, and a variety of other wildlife. Also, along the park road
loop, you will see interpretive signs to guide you on a "driving
tour" of the historic site.
Restrooms are available at
the group shelter, and at the Visitor Center where you can learn more
about the battlefield’s history from exhibits and audio-visual
presentations. Remember to wear insect repellent in warm weather.
Horses are not permitted on footbridges. Pets are permitted on
leashes.
Length: 2.0 miles.
Fees: No fee.
Directions: From
I-85 Exit 83, east of Spartanburg, drive north on SC 110. Drive 6
miles and turn right on SC 11. The entrance is .5 mile on the right.
Pick up a map at the Visitor Center and drive to the picnic area. The
trail is on the left, just past the group shelter.
Hours: Daily 9 a.m. to
5 p.m. (except holidays).
Camping: No camping.
