Hiking
Trail
Falls
Creek (#31)
(Mountain
Bridge Wilderness Area)
Trail Map

Description:
This strenuous, 1.7-mile trail climbs along a boulder-choked ravine to
the oft-overlooked, 100-foot Falls Creek Falls that ranks among the prettiest in the Mountain Bridge Wilderness Area.
Orange blazes mark the way along Falls Creek Trail, but it’s easy to
lose the trail amid the boulders. The trail follows old
logging roads for the first mile until it veers away from
the road and into a grove of sassafras, chestnut oak, and hickory.
You’ll soon hear Little Falls Creek that you can cross by grasping a guide
cable - just below the waterfall. Following narrow
switchbacks, the trail takes you above the falls to a perfect area for
a picnic. You can turn back at this spot, even though nothing marks
the end of the trail, or continue on Hospital Rock Trail (still blazed
orange) for approximately 4.4 miles to Jones
Gap State Park.
Length:
1.7 miles one-way.
Directions:
From Greenville, drive northwest on US 276 to the junction of US 276
and SC 11. Continue on US 276 approximately 1.5 miles and turn right
onto River Falls Road (Greenville County S-23-97), which changes to Jones
Gap Road. Drive 4 miles and turn right onto Duckworth Road
(Palmetto Bible Camp sign). At the next Palmetto Bible Camp sign turn
right onto Falls Creek Road. Go past the camp, cross a small
bridge, and the trailhead (orange blaze) is on the left.
Camping:
Trailside
primitive camping is allowed on certain trails. Contact Caesars Head
