Hiking Trail

Tom Miller (#2)

(Mountain Bridge Wilderness Area)

TrailMap

Description:
This trail provides a good starting point to hike the Jones Gap Trail, because there are more parking spaces at the Raven Cliff Falls parking area than at the Jones Gap Trailhead 1.5 miles further north on US 276. This short easy walking trail is mostly downhill to the junction with the Jones Gap Trail. You will descend on a series of switchbacks, at times steep enough that wooden stairs are provided. Although this is only a descent of approximately 400 feet, you will pass from a dry oakhickory forest on the ridge, to a moist evergreen  rhododendronhemlock forest at the Middle Saluda River.

Length: 0.7 mile.

Directions: From Greenville, drive northwest on US 276 to Caesar’s Head State Park. Drive 1 mile beyond the park entrance and turn right into the parking area for the Raven Cliff Falls Trail. The trailhead is at the north end of the parking area.

Camping: Trailside primitive camping is allowed on certain trails. Contact Caesars Head or Jones Gap State Parks for details.

Information: Mountain Bridge Headquarters (Caesars Head State Park), 8155 Geer Highway, Cleveland, SC, 29635. Telephone: 864-836-6115
