Interpretive Trail

Charles Pinckney National Historic Site

(Mount Pleasant, SC)

TrailMap

Description:
Starting from the parking area you will be on a well defined, easy walking crushed rock walkway, which extends across the site. Stop at the house, which serves as an information center, and pick up a trail map and information guide. The map and guide are helpful because part of the trail is across a grassy area, and is only defined by small colored flags. You will pass a slave village site and into a wooded area, which opens at a boardwalk overlooking a branch of Wampacheone Creek. As you return, you will pass the maintenance building and see a model of a rice trunk. Rice trunks were used to control water flow in the rice fields that once dominated this area.
