(Lick Fork Lake Recreation Area)

Description:
Located in the Lick Fork Lake Recreation Area in Edgefield county, this well marked, wide single track provides a challenge for all levels of riders. You will ride through hardwood bottoms, streams, and along pine ridges with wonderful views of the piedmont. Depending on your skills, you will find riding in a clockwise direction is easiest, but some rocks, tree roots, and steep drops can be an extra challenge to beginners.  It is maintained locally by a bicycling club through the Forest Service Volunteer Program.

For those of you who are hikers, the spring and summer months offer a wide variety of wildflowers which attract numerous moths and butterflies. You can extend your hike and enjoyment by also walking the adjoining Lick Fork Nature Trail.

The Lick Fork Lake Recreation Area also offers lake swimming, primitive camping, a nature trail, and a picnic area. Insect repellent is recommended during the warm months.

Length: 5.7 mile loop

Fees: $3.00 per vehicle.

Directions: From Edgefield, drive west on SC 23 for 8.2 miles. Bear left onto SC 230, drive .5 miles and turn left onto to Edgefield County S-19-263. Drive 1.9 miles to the entrance on the right, or continue to an alternate parking area. Continue on FS 634 (gravel) and turn right onto FS 640. The alternate parking area is on the right. 

Hours: Dawn till dusk

Camping: There are 25 primitive camping sites accommodating 7 people each. Toilets and showers are available. There is a $5.00 per site camping fee at Lick Fork Lake Recreation area.
