Mountain Bike Trail
Manchester State Forest Mountain Bike

(Sumter County)

TrailMap

Description:
You have a choice of three trails, or four if you include the connector, all starting from thePicture of Trail parking area for the Killer 3 Trail. You will need to ride part of the Killer 3 Trail to reach Hardcore, and ride the Poinsett Connector to reach Campbell Pond.

Although none of the trails can be called a climbers delight, you will be surprised at the varied terrain, which seems out of place in this area. This ride can also be technical in some areas where you will experience sharp turns, jumps, and in some cases sand. If you are just going out for an easy ride, you will pass through a forest with a mixture of pine and hardwoods, along with draping Spanish moss. In the spring, you will see the flowering dogwood, magnolia, and azalea trees dotting the forest. You may also meet red fox, deer, or wild turkey.

You will be on roads, or crossing roads in several places, so be aware of traffic. Insect repellent is recommended during warm months.

Length: Killer 3: 10.0 miles, Hardcore: 2.5 miles, Campbell Pond: 2.6 miles, and the Poinsett Connector: 2.5 miles.

Fees: $5 per day or a yearly pass for $25.

Directions: From Columbia drive east, or from Sumter drive west to SC 261. Drive south on SC261 to the entrance to Poinsett State Park (Park Road) and turn right. The parking area for the Killer 3 Trail is 1.0 mile on the left.

Hours: Dawn to dusk

Camping: No camping.
