Description:
This is a network of easy shared, trails that wind through wooded areas and through former rice fields. You can ride or hike the red blazed loop of 12 miles, or vary your distance using the blue blazed connectors. A wide variety of wildlife may be encountered, especially birds.

Horses and bikes can use all trails except those in the Watchable Wildlife Area. Helmets are required for all cyclists. All pets MUST be on a leash. Insect repellent is recommended during warm months. No motorized vehicles are allowed. Do not feed the alligators.

Length: 12.0 mile loop with another 3.3 miles of connectors for hiking, biking, and horse. Watchable Wildlife Trail 1.1 miles.

Fees: A $10 yearly fee is being charged and a background check is required.

Directions: From Exit 205B on I-26 north of Charleston, drive east on US 78 and turn left onto US 52. Follow the signs for the "Army Logistics Base/Naval Weapons Station" to the large green sign for "Marrington Plantation." Turn left and stay right until you get to the blue "Marrington Watchable Wildlife" sign. The main trailhead and parking area are located here.

Hours: Dawn to dusk

Camping: No camping.
