Hiking/Mountain
Biking
Trail
Glenn Springs Passage of
the Palmetto Trail
(Spartanburg County)
Trail Map
Description:
Starting from the historic one room post office in Glenn Springs, you can hike
or bike in either direction, south to Stagecoach Road and north to
Fairforest Creek (a proposed bridge may connect the trail to Croft
State Natural Area in 2003). Your hike or bike will wind through
forests of oak and hickory, open fields, and cross a number of small
streams, where you may see a variety of wildlife, including turkey,
deer, and snakes. The highlight of this trail is the historic town of
Glenn Springs, where you will pass by a number of buildings from the
past.
Since parts of this trail are on private
land, there are restrictions. Click on the map to see those parts of
the trail where only hiking is allowed. It is recommended that you use
insect repellent during the warm months, and wear bright colors during
hunting season.
