This easy paddling section makes for a nice day trip.
You will not see many signs of human habitation, although, you may see
an abundance of animals and birds including herons, eagles, and American
egrets. You will pass under a railroad trestle and a power line, which
you can use to gauge your progress.Numerous sandbars along the way
provide an opportunity to stop for lunch or just to rest a bit.
NOTE: Before you go call Santee
Cooper at 8009252537 about water release information. Water release
from the St. Stephen Hydro plant can cause reverse current, which can
make paddling in the lower section more difficult.
