Harbison State Forest offers a number of interconnected hiking and
biking trails. This rolling .4-mile, kid-friendly, out and back,
hiking only interpretive trail includes informative exhibits. From the
trailhead in Parking Area 2, you will enter the woods and visit
educational displays about trees and wildlife in the forest. You will
continue across the gravel access road, through a wooded area, to the
end at the Environmental Education Center. Turn back at any point for
a shorter hike. Water and restrooms are available at the gazebo area
and the Environmental Education Center. Pets are permitted on leashes.
Length: 0.4-mile one-way.

Directions: From Exit 104 on I-26
northwest of Columbia, drive east on Piney Grove Road to Broad River
Road (US 176). Turn left and the entrance to Harbison State Forest is
approximately one mile on the right. Pass through the gates, drive .6
mile, and turn left. At the first right, turn into Parking Area 2. The
trailhead is located behind the building to the left of the gazebo.
Hours: Gate hours vary with the
season, so check the signs before entering. If you park in Parking
Area 1 at the entrance, you have dawn to dusk access.
Camping: No camping.
