Description:
Cheraw State Park is South Carolinas oldest, and one of its largest, state parks. On the mostly flat Johnny Finkley Memorial Horse Trail, you will ride through a variety of habitats amid shaded pine and oak forests. You may see a wide variety of wildlife such as deer and wild turkeys, and possibly a resident of this area, a speedy lizard called the sixlined racerunner.

No facilities are provided along the trails. Restrooms, water, and vending machines are available in the main park area. Camping is allowed near the trailhead. The trail is on sandy soil, so horses do not need to be shod.

Length: 5.0 miles

Directions: From Cheraw, drive 4 miles southwest on US 52. Pass the main park entrance and cross the bridge. Turn right into the second park entrance (unpaved road). Drive on this road to Camp Juniper (second right). Continue to the ball field on the left.

Camping: Call 1-866-345-PARK (7275) or go online at www.SouthCarolinaParks.com to make your reservations today!

Park Information: Cheraw State Park, 100 State Park Road, Cheraw, SC, 29624, Telephone: 843-537-9656 or 800-868-9630.
