Horse Trail
Kings
Mountain Horse
(Kings
Mountain State Park)
Trail Map
Description:
This easy to moderately difficult 20-mile loop trail begins in Kings
Mountain State Park and circles into Kings Mountain National Military
Park, the site of a famous Revolutionary War battle. The surface is
primarily flat with some rocky areas and some clay spots. A local
saddle club takes care to watch over the trails and ensure solid
footing on some of the ridge climbs. Both parks offer gorgeous riding
through rolling hills and granite outcroppings not far from Charlotte,
NC The parks sit in the eastern foothills of the Blue Ride Mountains,
but they seem somewhat out-of-place with the area’s other gently
rolling terrain. Small mountains called manodnocks jut above the
surrounding flatland and offer spectacular views.
Horses must be shod. Insect repellent is
recommended during warm months.
