Anne Springs Close Greenway

(Hiking Only Trails)

TrailMap

Description: Dedicated as a preserve by the Close family, the Greenway is a scenic, natural buffer between Fort Mill and the sprawling Charlotte metropolitan area to the north. This network of red blazed trails extend throughout the greenway over a varied terrain that is hilly and mossy in some areas, as well as sandy in others. You can begin from any of four access points, the main entrance at the Nature Center, the Peach Stand Access, the Steele Creek Access, or the Avery Lake Access. will cross several creeks and in some cases on swinging bridges. You will pass through woods full of Oak, Hickory, and Dogwood as well as the fragrant honeysuckle. If the Anne Springs Close Greenway has a visual centerpiece, it’s probably the 1.3-mile section which encircles Lake Haigler. Before you start, pick up a brochure at the Nature Center which lists 21 points of interest, and then begin an easy walk, which features protected wetlands, a bat house, and an excellent array of wildlife and wildflowers.

Be aware that the hiking only trails also connect to the green blazed trails designated as hiking/mountain biking, so you may encounter cyclists. Bug repellant is recommended during the summer months.
