TrailMap

Description:
Starting from the parking area on Blackmon Road or Southland Park this is an easy loop through the Blackjacks Heritage Preserve. Made possible by the efforts of the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, the Nature Conservancy, and the City of Rock Hill, this trail guides you through a wooded area that is home for three rare plant communities and thirteen rare plant species. An example is the abundance of prairie species wildflowers like the Schweinitzs’ sunflower. As you follow arrows and metal hiking figures, you will walk on a primarily dirt surface, but in some parts, woodchips have been placed between railroad ties to help mark the trail. There are no facilities on the trail or in the parking areas. Also, during the summer months it is advisable to bring insect repellant to combat red bugs, and mosquitoes.
