Description: From the Visitor Center, This easy, 1.5-mile asphalt loop trail in Kings Mountain National Military Park, encircles an area where the Battle of Kings Mountain was fought on October 7, 1780. Monuments and placards along the trail tell about this fierce battle where the British Major Patrick Ferguson and his Loyalist troops were defeated by what were know as the “Over­Mountain Men.”

Length: 1.5-mile loop trail.

Fees: No fee.

Directions: From Exit 82 on I-77 north of Rock Hill, drive west on SC 161 to York and turn right (north) onto US 321/ SC 161. Stay on SC 161 when it forks to the left and continue to the junction with York County S-46-705 (Park Road). Turn left into Kings Mountain State Park and drive to the campground and picnic area.  The trailhead is at the picnic area.

Hours: Open during daylight hours.

Camping: There is one campsite that can be reached by hiking three miles into the park. The site allows for a maximum of ten people.
