Eutaw Springs Passage
of the Palmetto Trail
(Orangeburg County)

Description:
This moderately difficult section of the Palmetto Trail connects the
Lake Moultrie Passage at the Diversion Canal and the Eutaw Springs
Passage at Eutawville. About midway, you will pass near the Rock's
Pond Campground where you can stop for refreshment or spend the night.
You will hike/ride over open grass covered
fields, through dense hardwood forests, and on shady sand covered
roads at times within sight of Lake Marion. White-tailed deer, wild
turkey, and numerous bird species are abundant throughout this
area. A 7.5 mile spur trail at the Eutaw Springs
Battle Site is open from March 2nd through September.
Be sure to bring water and insect repellant during warm months.

Directions:
Eastern trail head: From Santee, drive southeast on SC 6 to Eutawville
where SC 45 joins SC 6. Continue into Berkeley County and stay on SC 45
when it breaks from SC 6. Cross over
the Diversion Canal the trailhead is at a parking area on the right.
Western
trailhead: From Santee, drive southeast on SC 6 to the Eutawville Town
Hall on Porcher Avenue in Eutawville.
Hours:
Dawn to dusk.
Camping:
Camping is available along the trail and at the Rocks Pond Campground.
