  Penny Creek to Willtown Bluff

Description:
Put into Penny Creek on the falling tide (two hours behind Charleston Harbor) for an approximately three hour canoe trip to Willtown Bluff Landing. At about 2.5 miles Penny Creek empties into the Edisto River where you will pass a number of rice plantations, and if you are adventurous, many small creeks to explore. Your destination is Willtown Bluff, which is one of the earliest settlements in South Carolina.

Insect repellent is recommended during the warm months.

Length: Approximately 7.0 miles.

Fees: No fee.

Mileage is approximate and for reference only.

Mile 0 - Penny Creek Landing - From Charleston, drive west on US 17 to Parker’s Ferry Cross Road and turn left onto S-10-38. Drive 1.1 miles, turn right onto S-10-1448, and drive to the end of the road (1.2 miles).

Mile 7 - Willtown Bluff Landing - From Penny Creek Landing, drive 1.2 miles and turn right onto S-10-38. Drive 3.7 miles and turn left onto S-10-55, and drive to the end of the road.

Hours: Dawn to dusk

Camping: No camping.
