Description:
Begin this short, mostly-level, yellow-blazed, loop trail by following the dirt path from the picnic area to the trail kiosk (#1 on the color-coded trail map). You will circle a quiet, natural area and pond where you can rest at the picnic shelter as you watch for a variety of birds, snakes, deer, rabbits, turkeys, turtles, and other wildlife. You can vary your trek by following any of a number of interconnecting trails.

Restrooms are available at the Visitors Center. Allow time to complete your hike before closing hours. Insect repellent is recommended in warm weather. Pets and smoking are prohibited.

Length: 0.7 mile.

Fees: $6 for adults, $5 for seniors, $3 for students, and free for children four and under. (Rates may vary for special events.)

Directions: From Rock Hill, drive southwest on SC 322. Continue 4 miles past the intersection of SC 324 and turn left onto Brattonville Road (S­46-165). Drive approximately 2 miles to the Visitors Center on the left. Pick up a trail map at the Visitors Center when you pay the fee.

Hours: Open year round Monday thru Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday 1 to 5 p.m. (Guided site tours are offered Tuesday thru Saturday at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.)

Camping: No camping.
