Description:
From the trail kiosk near the picnic area, begin this short,
easy-to-follow, dirt and gravel double-loop, nature trail through
shady hardwood, sweet gum, and pine trees. You will descend steep
steps, cross footbridges, and wind along a scenic creek in this
park-like setting. You can rest on benches as you watch for birds,
squirrels, snakes, and other wildlife.
Remember to wear insect repellant in warm weather.
Pets are permitted on a leash. Restrooms and beverages are available
at the back of the museum building.
Length:
0.5mile loop.
Fees:
No fee for the trail. (Museum admission: $5 for adults, $4 seniors, $3
for students, and free for children under 5.)
Directions:
From I-77 North Exit 82, drive west on Celanese Road (SC 161) (toward
airport). Drive to the third light and turn right onto Mt. Gallant
Road (York County S46195). Drive 5.5 miles and the museum is on
the corner at the intersection of Mt. Gallant and Museum Roads.
Hours:
Dawn to dusk.
Camping:
No camping.
