Description:
Starting from the parking area, this moderately difficult trail was built by volunteers who were mountain bikers. It is considered a very tight single track, with tough turns, grades, and a few stream crossings, also, be aware this is the SAND hills. You will pass through a mainly long-leaf pine forest with stands of red and white oaks, hickories, and yellow poplars. Be aware that hunting is allowed and October is deer hunting season. There are only limited facilities at the trailhead.  

Length: 9.0 mile loop

Fees: Individual daily permits are $5.00 and annual permits are $25.00. Plan ahead if you are not going to this trail during office hours. 

Directions: From Exits 116 or 120 on I-20, drive north to Bishopville. From Bishopville drive north on SC 341 to Bethune and turn right onto US 1. Drive through McBee and continue on US 1 for approximately 10 miles. The parking area is on US 1 directly across from the ranger station. You will need to ride a short distance on Truck Trail 141 to reach the trailhead. 

Hours: Dawn till dusk

Camping: At the Sugar Loaf Mtn. Recreation Area there are primitive camping sites with toilets. Reservations are required from the State Forest office.
