This Wildlife Management Area exhibits many characteristics common to sea islands along the southeast coast: pine hardwood forests, agricultural fields, coastal wetlands and a barrier island with a beachfront. Only this tract has been left undisturbed, providing coastal habitat for a wide range of wildlife species.

This Walt Schrader multi-use trail is the longest of the trail system and takes you around the perimeter of the Historic Brattonsville natural area—through mixed woods of pine, oak, sweet gum and hickory—to a scenic pond near the end of the loop.

Brissy Ridge is an excellent track of ridge-side trail with several rocky climbs and descents. This trail requires the most technical skill of any of the trails at the park. The trail begins to the right of the kiosk at the top parking lot.

The British Camp Trail starts from the parking area near the park office and Visitor Center, and loops through what was once the property of the Musgrove family, which was briefly occupied by the British in the summer of 1780. Scenic views of the Enoree River are visible from this trail, and it is teeming with local wildlife year-round.

Brittlebank is a 10-acre park on the Ashley River, off Lockwood Boulevard, that offers trails and paved pathways that are perfect for walking or biking. The park also provides a playground, benches and picnic tables, plus a fishing pier with a boat dock.
