Butler Springs was the first park developed by the Greenville Recreation District and opened in 1972. In 2005 the District upgraded this 10 acre facility and created a new entrance and landscaping making the park highly visible from the road. The tennis courts were resurfaced and a walking trail, new picnic pavilion, and playground were added. The park also features lighted athletic fields.
