Cowasee was completed in early 2016 and is the newest trail in Poinsett State Park.

Loading Trails

Cowasee is a twisty trail that takes the rider off of the Scout Loop/Palmetto Trail doubletrack. It begins where the Whippoorwill Trail ends in the counterclockwise direction and ends near the parking lot. The counter-clockwise direction is a gradual downhill for much of the trail.

Directions:

From Columbia: Drive east (west from Sumter) on US 378 and turn south onto SC 261. Drive for 10 miles and turn right onto Park Road (Sumter County S-43-63) and drive approximately 1.9 miles to Poinsett State Park and the trailhead is at the end of the road by the park office.
