From the trail sign near the picnic table, begin this rolling, twisting, hiking/biking/equestrian, dirt trail through quiet, oak and pine woodland. You will cross several footbridges, wind along a creek, and cross the dirt road, before you enter a dense bamboo thicket where the trail loops back to the dirt road. You can turn left onto the dirt road and then right onto the paved road back to the picnic area, or you can return the way you came. Watch for snakes, birds, deer, squirrels, and a variety of other wildlife. Also, along the park road loop, you will see interpretive signs to guide you on a "driving tour" of the historic site.

Restrooms are available at the group shelter, and at the Visitor Center—where you can learn more about the Battlefield’s history from exhibits and audio-visual presentations. Remember to wear insect repellent in warm weather. Horses are not permitted on footbridges. Pets are permitted on leashes.

Difficulty: Easy to Moderate

Hours: Daily 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (except holidays)

Directions:

From I-85 Exit 83 (east of Spartanburg): Drive north on SC 110 for 6 miles and turn right onto SC 11. The entrance is a half-mile on the right. Pick up a map at the Visitor Center and drive to the picnic area. The trail is on the left, just past the group shelter.
