Loading Trails

It is important to start this float on the falling tide, which is 5-6 hours behind Charleston Harbor. From the put-in, paddle east on Fee Farm Creek, which is a relatively deep creek and at one time provided access for schooners to the bordering plantations. During this 5-6 hour float you will pass under the Seacoast Rail Bridge, which basically is the demarcation of fresh water to saline. Shortly after the bridge you will see the Airy Hall plantation house on a bluff overlooking the river. Near the end you may encounter wind, which can make paddling difficult.

This float is recommended for kayaks only. Insect repellent is recommended during the warm months.

Hours: Dawn to dusk
