Loading Trails

From the trailhead at the swimming area, follow this easy to moderately challenging 1.9-mile loop through picturesque woods and scenic vistas as you circle Lick Fork Lake. You will pass under a canopy of mixed hardwood and pine trees that shelter fern, and a variety of wildflowers that flourish along the trail. You may encounter a variety of wildlife, including beavers and some of their handiwork. Short bridges provide dry crossings in some cases, but some rocky stream crossings can be slippery, so wear appropriate footwear. Hiking in a counterclockwise direction you will cross Lick Fork Creek twice. After the second crossing, the Lick Fork Lake and the Horn Creek Trails are concurrent for a short distance, be sure to turn left at the next junction. Water and restrooms are available at the swimming area and throughout the campground. During the summer months the use of bug repellant is recommended.

Hours: Dawn to dusk
