Summary:

This is a quiet, foot-traffic-only, 1.5 mile loop trail through varying wildlife habitats. Remains of an old mill site along Fairforest Creek and a bridge crossing are two historical points to view along this trail.

Loading Trails

From the dirt road that leads to the stables, begin this quiet, hilly, foot-traffic-only, loop trail through varying wildlife habitats. You will descend through mixed pine and hardwood trees, wind along the rocky shoals of Fairforest Creek, and then loop back uphill through the woods. Trail signs at intersections will help you find your way back. You may see a variety wildlife including birds, deer, squirrels, and snakes.

Restrooms are available at the parking area near the equine supply store. Insect repellent is recommended in warm weather. Pets are permitted on leashes. 

This is a former Army training facility. Visitors are asked to stay on trails and in recreation areas. Do not disturb unfamiliar objects.

Directions:

From Spartanburg: Drive 3 miles south on SC 56 and turn left onto Dairy Ridge Road. Drive 0.3 miles and turn right onto Croft State Park Road. Drive to the parking area just past the office. You can park near the supply store, or continue driving on the dirt road. The Nature Trail is the second trailhead on the right just past the “shooting range” sign.
