Hamilton Branch State Park Update
All hiking trails at Hamilton Branch State Park remain closed while cleanup continues. Portions of the park that are open include campsites 1–114 and 166–200, the boat ramp, playground, and Shelter 3. The General Store (park office and retail) is open daily from 9 a.m.–5 p.m. All other campsites and picnic shelters (Shelters 1 & 2) remain closed.

Summary:
Located in Plum Branch, South Carolina, Hamilton Branch State Park occupies a peninsula on the 70,000-acre Lake Thurmond. This hiking trail is an easy 1.5-mile loop.
Enjoy the scenic view of this short hiking trail. Following the trail markers on the trees (white signs with black arrows), you will wander up and down through a thick forest of pines and hardwoods. Take a second to stop and enjoy the beautiful landscape and ravines formed over time by heavy rainfall. All through this area you may encounter a variety of birds, snakes, and other wildlife such as white tail deer, raccoon and fox squirrels. You may also be lucky enough to sight a bald eagle that nests in this area as you make your way back to the Gift Shop.
The park provides a connector to the Stevens Creek Bike Trail. Remember to wear insect repellent in warm weather. Pets are permitted only on leashes. Restrooms and other amenities are available at the Gift Shop.

Directions:From I-20: In Augusta GA, take exit 200. Turn right onto GA Hwy 104/River Watch Pkwy. Turn right onto Hwy 28/Furys Ferry Road. Drive 19 miles. Park entrance will be on the left.
