From the parking area on Syndor Drive walk toward the school, on this short, mostly-level, asphalt and dirt, out-and-back, hiking trail that parallels Lawson’s Fork Creek. As you cross numerous footbridges and walk amid fern and ivy, look for plaques that identify a variety of trees including white oak, red maple, hornbeam, and loblolly pine. At the far end of the trail, you will ascend a steep slope. At the gate, return the way you came.

Insect repellant is recommended in warm weather. Pets are permitted on a leash.

Hours: Dawn to dusk

Directions:

In Spartanburg, from I-26: Drive six miles east on US 29 (which becomes East Main Street after the traffic circle) and turn right onto Fernwood Drive. Turn right onto Syndor Drive and pass the school. The parking area and trailhead are on the right just before Lawson’s Fork Creek.
