Summary:

The Splice Trail is used to access other trails as well as to create a loop from other trails. 

Loading Trails

The Splice Trail undulates gently through the western and mid sections but has some short steep climbs on the eastern end. This trail is used to access Whippoorwill Trail, Laurel Group Trail and Knot Trail, and runs the length of the road inside Poinsett State Park. The Splice was a needed through trail from neighboring Manchester State Forest to access Campbell's Pond Trail to the north of Poinsett and to take bike traffic off of Park Road.

Directions:

From Columbia: Drive east (west from Sumter) on US 378 and turn south onto SC 261. Drive for 10 miles and turn right onto Park Road (Sumter County S-43-63) and drive approximately 1.9 miles to Poinsett State Park and the trailhead is at the end of the road by the park office.
