Summary:

One of the area’s most diverse hikes, this trail includes a log crossing of Matthews Creek, a spectacular view of Raven Cliff Falls from a swinging bridge, and a rock face called The Cathedral.

The Naturaland Trust Trail is a beautiful and very strenuous hike that twice descends and ascends more than 1,000 feet over its 5.8-mile length. To get to this trail from Caesars Head State Park, hike 0.8 mile on the Frank Coggins Trail or hike 2.9 miles on the Raven Cliff Falls/Gum Gap Trails from the parking area one mile northwest of Caesars Head State Park. This trail also connects with the Dismal Trail.

Directions:

To the eastern trailhead: From Greenville, drive northwest on US 276 to Caesars Head State Park. Walk across US 276 and follow the purple blazed Frank Coggins Trail for 0.8 mile, then turn right onto the pink-blazed Naturaland Trust Trail.

To the western trailhead: From Greenville, drive northwest on US 276 to a parking area approximately one mile past Caesars Head State Park on the right. Walk across US 276 and follow the red-blazed Raven Cliff Falls Trail to the junction of the Gum Gap Trail (1.4 miles). Turn right and follow the blue-blazed Gum Gap Trail to the Naturaland Trust Trail (1.5 miles).
