The Patriots Point Trail provides picturesque opportunities for hiking, biking, and birdwatching. Features of the trail include a bird watching tower and a harbor deck providing an incredible panoramic view of the Harbor.

Ideal for bicycling, the scenic Peach Country Passage is routed from Inman to Landrum along back roads dotted with peach orchards.

The most famous—Peachtree Rock—looks like a precariously balanced overturned pyramid. Some 20 feet high, it is a remnant from millions of years ago when the Sandhills were the continent’s eastern coastline.

The Peak to Prosperity Passage proceeds west from the Alston trailhead in Fairfield County across the impressive Broad River trestle. The view from the 1,100-foot-long bridge is spectacular, especially when bald eagles soar. Across the river in Newberry County, the rail-trail skirts Peak and cuts an easy swath through piedmont forest to Pomaria and Prosperity.

Penn Center, with its 16 historic buildings—all registered with the National Trust for Historic Preservation—sits quietly on a rural side street on St. Helena Island. There is an easy, one-mile loop trail located here that serves as an outdoor classroom.

At about 2.5 miles into this trip, Penny Creek empties into the Edisto River where you will pass a number of rice plantations, and if you are adventurous, many small creeks to explore.

Peters Creek Heritage Preserve covers 160 acres in Spartanburg County. This piedmont cove forest, with its rolling topography, an old mill dam, two creeks and walking trails, is a pleasant and peaceful place to visit.

This trail offers scenic views of the Catawba River and is a great location for a variety of outdoor activities. The trail features rolling terrain with occasional steep grades. Along the trail are benches, trash cans and pet waste stations and several small bridges. This trail is in close proximity to restaurants and several cycling facilities in the Riverwalk development. Mountain bike trails with varying degrees of difficulty can be accessed from the PMC Trail.
